School law stays in place |
| PAULS VALLEY -A program bringing
Pauls Valley’s schools and law enforcement together
the last two years has been such a rousing success it
will continue despite a major change. The change comes
in the form of Shannon Hamilton, who as a Pauls Valley
Police officer has served as the local school
district’s resource officer during that time.
Hamilton will continue offering his services to the
schools when the next school year begins this August.
The big difference is he will do it as a Garvin County
deputy rather than as a local police officer.

another false alarm, resulted in a major marijuana find for

Undersheriff Steve Brooks, a call came in Wednesday reporting

Close investigation revealed the green leafy plants were
nothing more than common ragweed. Later that afternoon a
second call came in from a local farmhand who thought he might
have stumbled across a huge patch of pot located in the

Seized on I-35 |

PAULS VALLEY - There was no going home for a Kansas
man after authorities found about 30 pounds of marijuana hidden in his
vehicle’s trunk as he passed by Pauls Valley.
The traffic stop early Tuesday netted the multiple bundles of illegal weed and
is now keeping Thanh Van Nguyen, 28, behind bars on a $50,000 bond.
The Garden City man was traveling alone when Garvin County deputies clocked his
vehicle going over the speed limit as he drove by Pauls Valley on Interstate 35.
What got Nguyen in real trouble with the law were the four bundles of marijuana
found in his vehicle.
Deputy Travis Crawford reported noticing that Nguyen exhibited several signs of
unusually high nervousness during the traffic stop, which eventually occurred
about two miles north of Pauls Valley.
